Calling All Graduates!
The Marine Band of Allentown is recognizing the area’s best and brightest students with its
first ever concert honoring graduates of local high schools, colleges, and universities, as
well as local graduates of military academies. The program will be Friday, June 19, at West
Park in Allentown at 7:30 pm. All graduates are invited to attend the concert and be
recognized. The program will include selections associated with students, including Sousa’s
High School Cadets; The Sinfonians, written by Clifton Williams in honor of America’s largest
and oldest musical fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia; and, of course, Edward Elgar’s Pomp and
Circumstance March No. 1, the piece most associated with graduation ceremonies. Additional
highlights will include music this year’s graduates have enjoyed through their formative years,
such as music from the movies The Incredibles and Frozen.
Graduates who wish to participate are asked to email their name, school, town of residence,
parents’ names, honors/awards/activities, offices held, and plans for the future
(college/major, employment, military, etc.) to marinebandconductor@gmail.com. As the band plays
Pomp and Circumstance, the graduates will be introduced on the stage and presented to the
audience.
